SOLAR POOL HEATER PLUMBING LAYOUTS

Single Row: The solar pool heater’s PVC feed line connects to one bottom corner of the panel array, while the PVC return line connects to the opposite top corner.

Note: Never connect the solar pool heater’s PVC feed and return lines on the same side of the panel array. This reduces efficiency at the opposite end of the panels. See the “Bottom End Feed / Same Top End Return” diagram below.

Double Row: The solar pool heater’s PVC feed line connects to one bottom corner of both panel arrays, while the PVC return line connects to the opposite top corner of both arrays.

Note: All return lines from separate panel rows must join at the highest point of the system before returning to the pool equipment.

Note: All bottom panel headers and PVC feed lines must be installed to allow gravity drainage. In tropical or subtropical climates, panels and feed lines may be level. In northern climates, they must slope 1/4" per foot toward the feed. For more details, refer to the Vortex Install Manual for draining requirements.
