SOLAR POOL COVERS
Keep in mind that a thermal pool cover is recommended for all pool heating systems. Heating a pool without a cover is like heating a house without a roof—the heat simply escapes right out the top.
Without a pool cover, the operating cost of a heat pump or gas heater can double, and a solar heater’s effectiveness decreases. For easier use, you can add a roller to simplify placing and removing the cover. If you don’t plan to use a cover, the heater typically needs to be 75%–100% larger.
Pool covers generally cost $60–$130 for residential pools, and rollers typically start around $185.
