WHY
USE A
POOL
COVER?

Heating a Pool Without a Cover Is Like Heating a House Without a Roof—The Heat Escapes Right Out the Top.

A thermal pool cover is recommended for most heated swimming pools. A significant amount of pool heat is lost from the water’s surface, especially through evaporation. A properly fitted cover helps retain more of the heat already added to the pool.

A pool cover can improve the performance of a solar pool heating system by reducing overnight and windy-weather heat loss. It can also reduce the amount of energy required from a heat pump or gas heater.

Solar pool heaters can still operate without a cover, but the pool will generally lose heat faster. This may require a larger solar collector area and can make it more difficult to maintain the desired water temperature during cooler or windy conditions.

A pool-cover roller can make the cover easier to place and remove. The right cover and roller will depend on the size, shape and layout of your swimming pool.
